This book is a collection
of nine articles, published in various national and
international journals over the years, revised and
constituted into nine chapters, covering salient aspects
of the Pakistan Movement, both chronologically and
thematically. Apart from an introductory chapter on the
Pakistan Movement as a whole, the book deals with
diverse themes such as, Hindu-Muslim communalism, system
of representative government, devolution of British
authority in India, failure of traditional Muslim
political leadership, the Lahore resolution, political
mobilization of the Muslims, the Cabinet Mission Plan,
and last, but not the least, the charismatic leadership
of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and its role and
relevance in the creation of Pakistan. In this sense, it
is a full-fledged study of the Pakistan Movement, which
teachers, researchers, and students, especially at the
post-graduate level, will find useful in their pursuits.
Their engagement with the discourse will hopefully
stimulate further interest and insights into the study
of this very important area of specialization in history
and politics of India and Pakistan.
