Mr. Altaf Ullah is working as Research Fellow (BPS-18) in National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research, Centre of Excellence, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad (Pakistan) since August 04, 2006. He has been Assistant Editor of Pakistan Journal of History and Culture (PJHC) till July 2008. At present he is the Associate Editor of Mujallah Tarikh-wa-Saqafat-e-Pakistan (MTSP) (Urdu). He has published two research papers and a review article in PJHC (HEC recognized) and two research papers in Urdu language in MTSP. The titles of his published research articles are, “The Role of Political Parties in the 2002 National Elections of Pakistan”, “Pakistan may Intekhabi Siasat ka Pas-e-Mazir aur 2008 ke Intekhabaat Tarikh ke Aiene main” (Urdu), “Constitutionalism in Pakistan: A Study of Convergence and Divergence of the Proposals of the Constitution Commission with Provisions of 1962 Constitution” and “Entekhabaat 2002 may Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal ka Kirdar” (Urdu). Moreover, he writes columns in different Pakistani Newspapers such as National Herald Tribune, and Al-Akhbar (Urdu). He has compiled a Directory of Writers on History and Culture which has been published by National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research in 2010 (also available on the Institute website i.e. nihcr.edu.pk). He presented a number of paper in national and international conferences across the country. He has externally supervised three research theses of postgraduate students in the discipline of Pakistan Studies.
Mr. Altaf has successfully completed his Master Degree in the discipline of Pakistan Studies from the Department of Pakistan Studies Government Postgraduate College Mansehra affiliated with University of Peshawar (Pakistan) in the year 2004. As a requirement for the achievement of Master Degree in the discipline of Pakistan Studies, Mr. Altaf conducted his research dissertation at postgraduate level on the topic “Shahabuddin’s Commission Report” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ghulam Qasim Marwat.
Mr. Altaf obtained his M.Phil Degree in the discipline of Pakistan Studies from National Institute of Pakistan Studies, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad (Pakistan) in 2007. The title of his M.Phil Dissertation is “The 2002 National Elections in Pakistan: An Analysis”. His research supervisor at M.Phil level was Prof. Dr. Riaz Ahmad (T.I).

Mr. Altaf has successfully completed his PhD course work from Area Study Centre for Russia, China and Central Asia, University of Peshawar and nowadays conducting his PhD research work on the topic “Reforms in Federally Administered Tribal Areas: Implications for Pakistan and Afghanistan” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Zahid Anwar. His topic has been approved by the Graduate Studies Committee of Area Study Centre and Advance Studies and Research Board (ASRB), University of Peshawar (Pakistan) as well.
